3. The Law of Wonder
Do you remember how you felt the first time you smelled spring? The newness…the freshness…the “aliveness”…this is the Law of Wonder, naturally operating.
It is the same feeling you felt the first time you saw a dragonfly, or tasted a tomato immediately off the vine. It is the feeling you had the first time you smelled freshly-cut grass, and put your hand in water.
The Law of Wonder is seeing, feeling, tasting, experiencing as if through the eyes, hands, mouth, heart of a child. The newness, the miracle, and the wonder. It is like when you believed in magic.
Yes, you go back to those times when you remember the experiences and feelings, but are you living like this all the time? When you first wake up in the morning and open your eyes,,,do you look forward to the wonders that could be awaiting you that day? Do you gaze upon your partner or your pet with amazement and renewed unconditional love? Can you barely wait to bath or shower so that you may feel the sensations of hot or cold, wet, or the smell of your soap?
This is living the Law of Wonder, the miracle, the magic of life, and even now it is eagerly awaiting your rediscovery of it.
As wondrous as life itself is, you often do not live within the wondrous expanse of “Who” and “What” you really “Are”!
To help those of you who are not already living every moment, seeing and feeling every experience as if for the first time, take a moment and remember. Remember when you first gazed upon a flower, or witnessed, nay, smelled the first snow fall; remember the first time you tasted a fruit or a vegetable right off the vine; it was a seeing and feeling of wonderment and curiosity; all of your senses were heightened lest you miss something! All of your senses drew in the sights, sounds, smells, the feel of the moment; of the experience.
This is living the Law of Wonder.
Looking at each and every brick that makes up a building with awe and admiration for those who designed and built the structure; even gazing at the mortar that holds the bricks together; admiring, loving, sensing, feeling the feel and color of the brick and mortar; admiring and being aware of the shape of the building, and its relationship in distance to everything else; being aware of how the light strikes the multi-faceted surfaces of that building. This only begins to describe the sensations and experiences of living the Law of Wonder.
One may (and must) do the same with living creatures; observing the fur, the feathers, the scales, the hair, how it feels, looks, smells, and how the light strikes it. The movements of the eyes of the creature, seeing and sensing through the senses of the creatures, being one with them! The grace, habits and movements of the creatures…how beautiful, loving and wondrous!
If you can experience as if for the first time, in ways that you never have, feeling the sacredness of creation of the moment, then you are living the Law of Wonder. You already have.
“The pure in heart shall see God.”-Matthew 5:8
“If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.”-The Buddha
-“To me, every hour of the light and dark is a miracle. Every cubic inch of space is a miracle.”-Walt Whitman

Oh wonder of Wonders, giver and liver of life, how sacred and wondrous thou are!
Individualized as various creatures and life-forms animate and inanimate, how apparently individual and unique you are, beauty and wonder in so many ways, yet sharing and part of the One, the Whole, the Universal Mind, Purity and Perfection Itself.
Looking into the mirror, one sees yet another individualized expression of the Whole, as a wave upon the ocean, singular, perfect, and a part of the whole. Perfect, therefore; made, expressed, actualized in the spiritual likeness and beingness of Source, the Divine.
In this Divine, Perfect, loving, peaceful, joyous Oneness of which we are extensions are and yet exist within, we feel, almost overwhelmed with love and emotion. Our individualized bodies/sacred-temples can barely hold these Higher Resonations…such is gratitude. Such is love. Such gratitude; such love.
How wondrous, Life, thou are! Already ever-growing, ever-expanding, ever-expressing divinity and perfection. Perfect already; this is the soul.
Already expressing, this is your soul. How can it not?
Now and forever more, and so it is.
Amen.
