18. The Law of Release and Receive
This is one of my favorite laws, for it may be summarized in one sentence: “You cannot receive what you are not willing to give.”
In other words, unless you have the capacity to receive something, there will be no room for it; allow the capacity for whatever it is you are wishing to receive by giving it first! Generosity is measured by how much you are willing to give and share. Think of it as a giant key-hole, the hole being the exact size (maybe slightly larger!) than what you want to give…that way that something you want to give/share may pass out through the hole; conversely the hole is large enough to receive the same thing. If the key-hole is very small or non-existent, then how can something pass through it to give or to receive?
Another analogy is that of the closed fist/open hand. The closed fist cannot receive nor give; on the other hand (pun intended) the opened hand can both give and receive! The size of the palm is the size of what it can receive or give.
When you are living the Law of Release and Receive, you are living both an abundant and prosperous life, for you are allowing a constant give and receive! How gratifying that feels!
This is one of the most simple of the laws, yet the most difficult one to live because you have chosen a human incarnation, one filled with emotion and self-doubt. Even the most confident and healthy individual might still have difficulty releasing things that they love the most, which are actually mirrors of their innermost-self.
I shall firstly give an example originally shared by one of our more prolific “self-help gurus”. (I prefer to say “self-actuating motivators”) He loved a particular sweater which he owned, but in what he initially believed to be a selfless and generous act, gave his son another of his sweaters. This young son, honestly and without guile told his father that he liked “the other” one, meaning the one the father preferred. The father, in giving his son the one he really loved, learned the true meaning of selflessness and generosity. It’s easy to give away to worthy people/causes things you don’t treasure…try giving away the things that you really love or value emotionally! This results in a vibrational “opening” to receive that which you just gave away.
Do you want more money? Give away money! Do you want love? Try loving yourselves or being non-judgemental to others, even loving others with all of your heart, whether you know them or not. Want spiritual prosperity and abundance? (Law of Prosperity/Law of Abundance) Give someone else a quality, safe life!
I believe you get the idea in concept, or intellectually, but it is another matter to go beyond our human emotional ties and restraints, the fears and human limitations which result in our being bound to the physical, illusionary world. If you fear nothing, giving without thought to others, then you are living the Law of Release and Receive, also akin to the Law of Compassion in some cases, for feeling a detached compassion for those in need will automatically result in you giving/helping without thought in ways previously described when living the Law of Compassion.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”-Matthew 10:8
“When we give like the sun, our soul shines.”-Buddhist scriptures
“Whatever I am offered in devotion with a pure heart-a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water-I accept with joy.”-Bhagavad Gita
Scientific-Treatment/Affirmative-Prayer/Spiritual/Meditative Mind-Treatment
We take the breath here. We feel the peace, the love, joy, and harmony, which is God Itself. God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, God is everywhere, there is no place God is not, therefore where we are, God is. Right here and right now, we recognize that we are an individualized expression of this Wholeness, just as the sunbeam is an extension of the sun, but is a part of the sun. In this Glory and Power we affirm and we declare that with one hand we give, and with the other hand, we give. Our heart is filled with love, for we have just given it. Our mind is Creative, for we have just created. Our bodies are whole, healed, and complete, for we have healed others with our heart, with our soul
We feel this now, and we let it be. In gratitude and appreciation we release this knowing, letting it be,
And So It Is!
Amen.
